In fact this may turn out to be a revenge match for Djokovic who despite putting up a stiff resistance at the US OPen, lost to the Olymic gold medalist Murray 7-6(10) 7-5 2-6 3-6 6-2. Having won only Grand Slam this year, Novak desparately wanted another, but Murray snatched it isntead to claim his first ever career Grand Slaam.
Both Djokovic and Murray have one of their last ten matches played: Murray at Tokyo at the hands of Raonic, and Djokovic at US Open by Murray.
Djokovic first met Murray at Madrid in 2006 and have since played 15 times, with Djokovic winning over the Brit eight times. Nevertheless, their last encounter at the US Open final was in Murray's favour.
Who is favourite for today's final? Well I think Djokovic would very much like to prevail upon Murray - but could he?
