Azarenka now plays against world no.2 and the French Open queen Maria Sharapova who beat Sam Stosur in the dead rubber match of the Round Robin Friday just too easily 6-0, 6-3.
Both Azarenka and Sharapova have long history of playing against each other since they first met at Moscow in 2007. Of eleven encounters since, Azarenka has beaten Sharapova seven times, which puts world no.1 in a commanding position over Sharapova in today's semi final. Azarenka recently beat Sharapova in the Beijing final 6-3, 6-1, a score that speaks how easily Azarenka overpowered Sharapova.
After securing her first position, Azarenka will be meeting the Russian with more vigour and energy, lest Sharapova wants to surprise the Belarusian.
