The first match on Day-3 of the WTA Istanbul is scheduled between world no. 6 German left handed Angelique Kerber and 7th ranked Chinese Na Li Thursday afternoon today.
Angelique Kerber had the toughest match of the tournament against world no.1 Victoria Azarenka on Day-2 yesterday. Kerber contested the first match with lot of resilience and won it 7(13)-6(11). But then the world no.1 struck back and fought her way through to win the match 7(7)-6(2), 6-4.
As for Na Li, she too was beaten by Serena Williams 7(7)-6(2), 6-3.
Both Kerber and Li have come face to face six times since they first met at Birmingham 2010 and Li has a clear winning edge over the German 5-1. The stats make today's match interesting and let us see whether Li can maintain her upper edge over Kerber or not.
