Although already qualified for the semi finals, world no.2 and the French Open 2012 champion Russian Maria Sharapova plays here last match of the Round Robin against world no.9 Austrian Samantha Kerber on the Day 4, Friday afternoon today.

Sharapova vs Stosur

Stosur joined the championship as a replacement for the defending champion Petra Kvitova who had been forced to withdraw from Istanbul with a viral illness. But has already lost her chances to reach the semi final after losing her opening match against Italian Sara Errani.

Sharapova and Stosur have faced each other  about a dozen times since they first met at Birmingham in 2004 and the Australian has only been able to beat the Russian twice. They last met at Tokyo this year, when the Aussies beat the German in the quarter finals.

Today's match being not much of an excitement  as Sharapova has already qualified for the semi finals and Stosur having lost her ticket to the semis, but tennis enthusiasts would still like to see their favourite Maria Sharapova playing Friday today.
