Djokovic wins Shanghai Masters in a 'Racquet Breaking Contest'

Today the final of the Shanghai Rolex Masters tennis tournament was both exciting and interesting, for it was finished with two 'racquets' broken. Yes I mean it - not records but racquets.

The first racquet was broken when the score was 5-5 each in the first set . And when Djokovic lost his game to let the Scot lead 6-5, an angry Serbian repeatedly banged his racquet and literally broke it apart to show his frustration. However, it was his frustration that let him win the second set in a tie breaker.

There lies the broken tennis racquet of Novak Djokovic after losing the game when the score was 5-5

In the second set Djokovic saved five match points before beating defending champion Andy Murray in a three-set final of breathtaking intensity. In the third set, after 4-3 in the Serbian's favour, it looked as if Murray was not interested in winning anymore and gave away many points easily to let the match slip away in Djokovic's favour.

Then it was Murray's time to break his racquet the same way he did in Tokyo. So the breaking of two racquets equalized.

The match lasted a grueling three hours and 20 minutes in Shanghai. Djokovic finally won the Shanghai Rolex Masters' trophy from the defending champion Andy Murray by beating him 5-7 7-6(13-11) 6-3.

The win taking at Shanghai takes the Serbian past Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal as the only man to win seven of the nine Masters 1000 events currently on the ATP Tour calendar.
