While the semi finals of WTA Istanbul get underway at Istanbul, the men's singles semis of the ATP Basel are being played Saturday today too.
While the first semifinal is being played between Del Potro and Gasquet, the socnd is between world no.1 Swiss Roger Federer and world no 103 French Paul-Henri Mathieu.
For Federer, playing against Mathieu should not pose any problem to claim his sixth Basel title.
Both Roger Federer and Paul-Henri Mathieu are squaring off for the sixth time in their careers since they first met at Rome in 2003. Federer won all five previous encounters against Mathieu. They last met in the third round of the US Open in 2010, when Federer beat Mathiey 6-4, 6-3, 6-3.
Paul-Henri Mathieu has won and five of his last ten matches. He retired playing against Kamke at Mons this year having won the first set 7-5 and left the second at 0-3.
Obviously Federer, a year older to Mathieu is favourite not only for today's semi but also for the championship.
So let us watch the second semi final which is scheduled for Saturday, 27 October 2012 at 14:00 GMT.
