The US Open 2012 that going on Monday 27th August, has had no real upsets and everyone that mattered sailed through to the second round.
The results of Day-1 are as under:
Men's Singles:
Olympic Gold medalist British Andy Murray (3) defeated Alex Bogomolov Jr. 6-2, 6-4, 6-1
Jack Sock defeated Florian Mayer (22) 6-3, 6-2, 3-2 (Mayer retired from the match)
James Blake defeated Lukas Lacko 7-5, 6-2, 3-6, 6-3
Seven times Wimbledon title holder Swiss Roger Federer (1) defeated American Donald Young 6-3, 6-2, 6-4
Ladies' Singles:
Samantha Stosur (7) defeated Petra Martic 6-1, 6-1
Sorana Cirstea defeated Sabine Lisicki (16) 4-6, 6-2, 6-2
Kristyna Pliskova defeated Julia Goerges (18) 7-6 (7-4), 6-1
And finally Russian Maria Sharapova, who is seeking her second Grnad Slam of the YEar after French Open, beat Melinda Czink of Hungary 6-2, 6-2.
