While the euphoria starts to die in London after the London Olympics came to an end this Sunday, the official Olympic flag flies to Rio de Janeiro, the host of the 2016 Summer Games.
The landing of the Olympic flag was hailed by the Rio Mayor, Eduardo Paes who said:
"It is a unique opportunity to spark change - This is a very special moment for our country, for our city. To be able to take care of this box, of this flag, which, at the moment I cannot touch without gloves, it’s an enormous pleasure, an enormous honour.”
With Brazil also due to host the next football World Cup in 2014, officials insist everything will be ready at least a year before the games begin.
