Japan advanced to the semis after beating Egypt 3-0. The japanese are in high spirits after reaching the semi finals - their first in 44 years and vow to take the world. "We are now in the position to challenge the world," Japan's coach, Takashi Sekizuka, said. "The team is getting stronger and stronger game by game."
It may be added that the Japanese have not conceded a single goal during their journey to the semis. They took the tournament by surprise by beating Spain in the first group stage match, and have carried that momentum on.
As for Mexico, they have had a tough time beating the strong Senegalese footballers 4-2 in the extra time, with ten minutes remaining.
For today's match, Mexico could use its creative ability in midfield to have an upper edge over the Japanese.
The Olympic semi final of football is scheduled for Tuesday, 7 August 2012 at 00:00 GMT
