That was the first day - now it is reigning champion Man City taking on Southampton Sunday afternoon today at London's Etihad stadium.
The match may be difficult for the Southampton's new boys as most have never played in the Premiership. On the other hand, City is likely to dominate the show this afternoon - though they may not come out with tons of goals.
As for the outcome of today's match, we may remeber that in four of the last five seasons City have started their league campaign with a clean sheet. The exception was 2008-09, when they lost 4-2 at Aston Villa on the opening day. And for the Saints, well they beat Leeds to win their opening game for the first time this century during the last season.
It would thus be an interesting match watching City and Saints playing each other Sunday today.
