Though it was my birthday, and I expected good news to listen to today, it happened almost the opposite: the World Champions Australia beat Pakistan 7-0 in the Group A of the men's field hockey match and claimed 11 points. With win over Pakistan, Australia qualifies for the semi final.

The match played at the Riverbank Arena Tuesday was simply devastating for Pakistan, which expected an honourable equation. But it seems that the green shirts came under extreme pressure while playing with a superior team and was simply awe stricken to even defend, what to talk of an offensive game. However, Pakistan's goal keeper Imran prevented Aussies from scoring many more goals.
Pakistan's defeat pushes it down to fourth position with seven points, while Britain continues to occupy the 2nd position with 8 points and Spain now moves ahead of Pakistan at no.3 position with seven points.
