Having lost the first set too easily to the left-hander from Luxembourg 1-6, Roddick regained control over the game and won the next two sets 7-6 (7/2), 6-2. This has been his second title of 2012 after a victory at Eastbourne.
Muller started off well eyeing a first career ATP crown, broke Roddick twice in the opening set. But then a shoulder therapy of Roddick brought him back into the game and the title win. This left Muller to be runner up at Atlanta for the third time since 2005.
