Venus Williams, 55th ranked American plays against her first round match on Court No.2 against 83rd ranked Elena Vesnina of Russia on the first day of Wimbledon Monday 25 June 2012.

This is also the first ever encounter of thr tow.

Venus has lost four of her last ten matches, all on clay as after the French Open deafeat at the hands of A. Radwanska 6-2 6-3, she did not play on grass as a warm up for the Wimbledon.

Elena Vesnina too has lost five of her last ten matches, three on clay and two on grass. She last lost to A. Kerber 3-6 6-0 7-5 at WTA Eastbourne (GBR). 

The match is scheduled for Monday 25 June 2012 on the Court-2 at 12:00 GMT
