Serena and Federer Crowned Champions of Madrid

The blue clay of Madrid which was detested by both the World nos 1&2 Djokovic and Nadal, when ousted from the winning race, was captured by World No. 3 Roger Federer and 9th ranked American Serena Williams Sunday.

In the WTA title race, 9th ranked American Serena Williams overpowered World No.1 Victoria Azarenka in simple straight win of 6-1, 6-3. The match just lasted four mintes past one hour. With the win, Williams took home $830,500, besides being crowned as Madrid's Queen for 2012.

Federer beat Tomas Berdych 3-6, 7-5, 7-5. The win replaces him with Nadal's No.2 ranking. Something Federer wanted more than anything at this time of the year, specially before the French Open. - a great day for the Swiss indeed.
